The Ranchi district administration will conduct a mock drill in the Doranda area on May 7, 2025, to strengthen public preparedness and inter-agency coordination in emergency situations. Authorities have urged residents not to panic upon hearing sirens, as the exercise is only a simulation.
The drill will take place between 4 PM and 7 pm and is part of a nationwide civil defense initiative directed by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India.

He also requested Doranda residents to switch off their home lights, vehicle headlights, and generators during the mock drill to simulate a real blackout scenario. The initiative aims to build awareness among citizens and test the response systems of various emergency services.
Alternate Traffic Routes in Doranda Area
To avoid inconvenience, the administration has arranged alternative traffic routes in Doranda during the three-hour exercise window. Commuters are advised to use designated alternate roads to ease movement and avoid drill-affected zones.
The district administration is also running video messages and public announcements to educate citizens about the importance of civil defense and emergency preparedness.

DC Bhajantri emphasized that the success of the drill depends on public cooperation. He urged citizens to inform their neighbors and family members about the exercise and support the officials participating in the drill.
“This is a controlled and pre-planned operation. Our goal is to enhance awareness and readiness, not to cause alarm,” Bhajantri added.
This exercise will help ensure that both residents and emergency responders are better equipped to handle real-life disasters like earthquakes, fires, or chemical accidents.
