Indian cinema enthusiasts are in for a cinematic treat as the highly anticipated gangster drama Thug Life is all set to hit theatres worldwide on June 5, 2025. The film marks the reunion of legendary actor Kamal Haasan and master filmmaker Mani Ratnam, 36 years after their iconic collaboration in Nayakan. This
collaboration is set to deliver a potent mix of emotion, rebellion, and high-stakes drama.
Thug Life tells the gripping tale of a common man’s descent into the criminal underworld and his transformation into a feared figure. Co-written by Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam, the film promises to offer an intense, action-packed experience. This marks Haasan and Ratnam’s first collaboration since the iconic Nayakan and is anticipated to be an action-driven gangster drama that will captivate audiences nationwide.

Produced under the banners of Raaj Kamal Films International, Madras Talkies, and Red Giant Movies, Thug Life will be released in multiple Indian languages, ensuring that it reaches a broad audience across the nation.

The promotional campaign for Thug Life is already underway, with the release of trailers for different regions scheduled as follows:
Tamil trailer: May 17
Telugu trailer: May 22
Grand music launch: May 24 in Chennai, featuring a live performance by A.R. Rahman (originally planned for May 16 but postponed due to regional tensions).
Pre-release events will also take place in key cities including Delhi, Bengaluru, Thiruvananthapuram, Visakhapatnam, Malaysia, and Dubai.
The recently released teaser gives fans a glimpse into the intense narrative, showcasing Kamal Haasan in a fierce, revenge-driven avatar, while Simbu appears in a blood-soaked, intense look, further hinting at the gritty and action-packed tone of the film.
With its powerful storytelling, a star-studded cast, and a score by one of the world’s most iconic musicians, Thug Life is already shaping up to be one of the biggest Indian films of 2025.
