In a landmark move to boost educational infrastructure for tribal students, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren today laid the foundation stone for a 520-bed multi-storey Scheduled Tribe hostel at the Tribal College Hostel Campus in Karamtoli, Ranchi.
Addressing students and dignitaries at the event, the CM reaffirmed his government’s commitment to ensuring a better future for all students across the state by providing them with the necessary educational resources and support.
Vision for Quality Education Now Taking Shape
CM Soren said that the state government’s vision to revamp the educational landscape is now being realized. He stated that the Welfare Department’s hostels are being renovated, and today’s foundation ceremony is a step toward fulfilling that promise.
He expressed hope that once the hostel is complete with modern facilities, poor tribal students from remote regions of Jharkhand will find a safe and resource-rich environment to pursue their dreams.
Government to Provide Nutritious Meals and Learning Resources
The Chief Minister assured students that the government will eliminate their daily struggles, allowing them to focus solely on their education. He announced that students living in the hostel will no longer need to bring rice, lentils, or other groceries from home. Instead, they will receive three nutritious meals daily, along with in-house cooks and security personnel.
Additionally, all necessary academic resources related to study and learning will be provided within the premises.

Highlighting the growing importance of competitive exams, CM Soren said the government is determined to ensure that financial barriers do not hold back talented students. Under the Guruji Credit Card Scheme, students can now avail of education loans up to ₹15 lakh without any collateral, enabling them to pursue courses in engineering, medicine, law, and civil services. Coaching and preparatory support for competitive exams are also being made available.
Revamping Government Schools and Colleges
The Chief Minister emphasized that the state is actively strengthening basic infrastructure in schools and colleges. He pointed out that many government institutions now outperform private schools, citing the example of several students from CM School of Excellence who scored over 90% in the recent board exams.
He said that more such schools would open in the near future to provide underprivileged students with world-class education.
In a major educational initiative, CM Soren announced the establishment of grand libraries in every district named after Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. These libraries will house a vast collection of books, journals, and magazines, offering a strong knowledge base for all learners. He reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering a robust academic ecosystem across Jharkhand.
The event was attended by Minister Chama Linda, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, Chief Secretary Alka Tiwari, and senior officials including Kripanand Jha, Arwa Rajkamal, and Tribal Welfare Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha.
This initiative forms a part of the state government’s larger plan to empower marginalized communities and provide equal educational opportunities to every student in Jharkhand.
