Chief Minister Hemant Soren met with UNICEF India Representative Cynthia McCaffrey today at his residential office, where the two discussed expanding efforts toward the holistic development of children in Jharkhand. The high-level courtesy call focused on strengthening inter-departmental collaboration between UNICEF and the Jharkhand Government across key sectors such as health, education, nutrition, and child rights protection.
During the meeting, McCaffrey briefed CM Soren on UNICEF’s ongoing initiatives in Jharkhand, highlighting their work in promoting child rights, improving access to education, ensuring child health, and fostering an enabling environment for personality development. She expressed UNICEF’s intent to deepen cooperation with state departments to achieve these goals more effectively.
“We’re committed to creating a world where every child not only survives but thrives. Jharkhand’s vision aligns with ours, and we look forward to being active partners in this journey,” said McCaffrey.
CM Soren appreciated UNICEF’s role and reiterated his government’s unwavering commitment to child welfare. “Our administration has launched multiple schemes focused on the all-round development of children — ensuring they grow up healthy, safe, and empowered,” he stated.

He emphasized that issues like malnutrition and health inequality must be tackled at the root, and assured that the government is working rigorously at every level to improve child health indicators. “Without healthy and secure children, there can be no real progress,” the Chief Minister added.
Soren further assured UNICEF of full government cooperation, stating, “Together, we can give every child in Jharkhand a better and brighter future.”

The meeting also included UNICEF Jharkhand Chief Kaninika Mitra and Communication Specialist Aastha Alang, both of whom reiterated the organization’s commitment to supporting Jharkhand’s child-focused development programs.
