The much-anticipated Kamal Haasan film, Indian 2, hit theatres on Friday, raking in an impressive Rs 26 crore net at the Indian box office on its opening day across all languages, as reported by Sacnilk. The Tamil version led the collections, contributing over Rs 17 crore, while the Hindi and Telugu versions earned Rs 1.1 crore and Rs 7.9 crore, respectively.
Indian 2 is the sequel to the 1996 hit film Indian, both directed by Shankar. In this sequel, Kamal Haasan reprises his role as Senapathy.

The film faced competition at the box office from Sudha Kongara’s Sarfira, a remake of the National Award-winning Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, starring Akshay Kumar, Radhika Madan, Paresh Rawal, and Seema Biswas.

Produced by Lyca Productions and Red Giant Movies, Indian 2 boasts a star-studded cast, including Siddharth, S J Suryah, Bobby Simha, Gulshan Grover, and the late Nedumudi Venu. The film was released in Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu.

The NDTV quotes Kamal Haasan, who expressed his satisfaction with Indian 2, and said, “We have made up for everything we lacked in the first part and more. Whether it’s the budget, the technicians, the technicality, or the gadgets.”
Reflecting on his transformation for the role, he described it as “gratifying” and said, “By now, I’m used to it. The only thing is the result if it’s gratifying, all the pain is worth it.”
