On Thursday morning, a bank manager, identified as Vijay Kumar of Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh, was gunned down by terrorists at the Ellaqie Dehati Bank at Areh Mohanpora in Kulgam district.

Budgam: Hours after broad day murder of a bank manager in Kulgam, a migrant labourer was shot dead by terrorists in Kashmir’s Budgam on Thursday. During the attack, another worker suffered injuries and was admitted to a hospital.
On Thursday morning, a bank manager, identified as Vijay Kumar of Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh, was gunned down by terrorists at the Ellaqie Dehati Bank at Areh Mohanpora in Kulgam district.

Initially, the Kashmir Zone Police had tweeted, “#terrorists fired upon a bank employee (manager) at Ellaqie Dehati Bank at Areh Mohanpora in #Kulgam district. He received grievous gunshot injuries in this terror incident. He is a resident of Hanumangarh Rajasthan. Area cordoned off. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice.”
The police later said, “#KulgamTerrorIncidentUpdate: #Injured bank employee namely Vijay Kumar #succumbed to his injuries at hospital. #Search in the area going on. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice.”
Meanwhile, people belonging to the Hindu community employed in Kashmir protested in Jammu to demand security for the members of their community in the wake of repeated attacks on them by terrorists. Majority of migrants and Kashmiri Pandits have reportedly been leaving the state amid fear of their life.
The attack on Vijay Kumar came days after a high school teacher died after being shot dead by suspected terrorists in the Kulgam district. The attack on the teacher had come hours after two terrorists were killed in the Awantipora encounter that broke out between security forces and militants in the Rajpora area of Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Two AK-47 rifles were recovered, the police said.
