Srinagar: The Kashmir Zone Police in a tweet on Thursday morning said a bank manager, identified as Vijay Kumar of Rajasthan’s Hanumangarh, was gunned down by terrorists at the Ellaqie Dehati Bank at Areh Mohanpora in Kulgam district.
Initially, the Kashmir Zone Police had tweeted, “#terrorists fired upon a bank employee (manager) at Ellaqie Dehati Bank at Areh Mohanpora in #Kulgam district. He received grievous gunshot injuries in this terror incident. He is a resident of Hanumangarh Rajasthan. Area cordoned off. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice.”
The police later said, “#KulgamTerrorIncidentUpdate: #Injured bank employee namely Vijay Kumar #succumbed to his injuries at hospital. #Search in the area going on. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice.”
Meanwhile, people belonging to the Hindu community employed in Kashmir protested in Jammu to demand security for the members of their community in the wake of repeated attacks on them by terrorists.

The attack on the teacher had come hours after two terrorists were killed in the Awantipora encounter that broke out between security forces and militants in the Rajpora area of Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. Two AK-47 rifles were recovered, the police said.
