Gaza Peace Deal: Hamas has agreed to accept parts of the Gaza peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, prompting Trump to call on Israel to immediately halt its bombing campaign in Gaza. The agreement includes the release of all remaining hostages taken during the October 7 attacks and the initiation of talks on prisoner exchanges.
In its official statement, Hamas expressed appreciation for “the efforts of Arab, Islamic, and international parties, including Trump, to end the ongoing conflict in Gaza.”
“Hamas appreciates the Arab, Islamic, and international efforts, as well as the efforts of US President Donald Trump, calling for an end to the war on the Gaza Strip, the exchange of prisoners, the immediate entry of aid, the rejection of the occupation of the Strip, and the rejection of the displacement of our Palestinian people from it,” Hamas said in its statement shared by Trump on his Truth Social account.
Hamas Agrees to Release Hostages and Relinquish Power
Hamas announced that it had held extensive consultations within its leadership and with other Palestinian factions before agreeing to parts of the proposal.

“Out of keenness to end the aggression and genocide being carried out against our steadfast people in the Gaza Strip, and stemming from national responsibility, and in defense of the constants, rights, and higher interests of our people, the Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has conducted in-depth consultations within its leadership institutions, broad consultations with Palestinian forces and factions, and consultations with brothers, mediators, and friends, in order to reach a responsible position in dealing with U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan,” the group said.
Reiterating its openness to political transition, Hamas added, “The movement also reaffirms its approval to hand over the administration of the Gaza Strip to a Palestinian body of independents (technocrats) based on Palestinian national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic backing.”
Hamas further confirmed its readiness to release all Israeli prisoners, both living and deceased, under the terms outlined in Trump’s proposal. “Within this framework, and in a manner that achieves an end to the war and a full withdrawal from the Strip, the movement announces its approval of releasing all occupation prisoners—both living and remains—according to the exchange formula contained in President Trump’s proposal… the movement affirms its readiness to immediately enter, through the mediators, into negotiations to discuss the details,” the statement added.
Israel to Scale Back Gaza Offensive Following Trump’s Order
Following Hamas’s partial acceptance of the plan, Israel’s political leadership has reportedly directed its military to reduce its offensive in Gaza. The Israeli government said it is preparing for the “immediate implementation” of the first stage of Trump’s Gaza peace plan.
“Based on the statement just issued by Hamas, I believe they are ready for a lasting PEACE,” Trump wrote on social media, after ordering Israel to immediately stop bombing Gaza.
Trump’s 21-point peace proposal, which has the backing of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calls for an end to hostilities, the release of hostages within 72 hours, a phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, and the disarmament of Hamas. It also stipulates that Hamas and other factions “not have any role in the governance of Gaza,” with a technocratic transitional authority — overseen by Trump himself — administering the post-war territory.
