US President Donald Trump had an intense argument with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over a phone call on Monday, amidst US-Iran peace talks, after knowing Israeli intensification in the Lebanon area in Iran.
The heated discourse came after Iran warned US over Israel’s escalated activities in Lebanon. The Israeli strikes would tense up the US – Iran peace negotiation to end the Middle East war.
As per the reports, Trump has also called for a halt on Israel’s strikes on Beirut, as doing so would isolate Israel on the globe said an US official.
Trump – Netanyahu Call
A US official underscored that Trump said Netanyahu “You’re f**king crazy. You’d be in prison if it weren’t for me. I’m saving your ass. Everybody hates you now. Everybody hates Israel because of this”.
A second source said that at one point Trump yelled at Netanyahu saying “What the fuck are you doing?”
Also as per US official, it was known to Trump that Hezbollah had been attacking Israel and Isreal needed to retaliate but he (Trump) felt, Isreal had been escalating in a disproportionate way by taking down buildings after buildings to assassinate a single Hezbollah commander.
Post call
After the call, Trump posted writing that the US – Iran peace talks “continuing, at a rapid pace”.
On the other side, Netanyahu released a statement, which stated, Israel would attack target in Beirut and escalate its operation in Southern Lebanon if Hezbollah does not stop attacking Israel. Netanyahu wrote, “Our position remains the same”.
Despite Trump-Netanyahu call, attacks have been reported in South Lebanon near, Nabatieh, villages of Shukin and Kafr Tibnit and Tallet Tol.
India amidst of Middle-East war
As Israel, targeted Lebanon before the call. Congress leader, Jairam Ramesh criticized PM Narendra Modi on remaining silent over the ongoing tension. He said, “Negotiations continue between the US and Iran to bring a halt to the war in West Asia. The immediate impact of such an agreement would mean the re-opening of the Stairt of Hormuz and a downward pressure in oil prices- both of which India has a tremendous stake in.”
