A tragic accident occurred in Mumbai today, resulting in the death of a four-year-old boy who was struck by a speeding car driven by a 19-year-old man. The incident took place near Ambedkar College in the Wadala area, leaving the victim’s family in deep shock.
The victim, identified as Ayush Laxman Kinvade, was reportedly living on the footpath with his family. His father works as a laborer. Authorities confirmed that the vehicle involved in the accident was a Hyundai Creta, driven by 19-year-old Sandeep Gole, a resident of Vile Parle. The police have initiated an investigation into the incident to determine the circumstances leading to the tragic crash.
This incident comes just days after another devastating accident in Mumbai, in which a driver lost control of an electric bus operated by the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertaking. The bus plowed into pedestrians and other vehicles, resulting in the deaths of seven people and injuring 42 others. The December 9 incident, which occurred in Kurla, also caused significant damage to over 20 vehicles and was captured on CCTV.

In light of these accidents, the Union Ministry of Road Transport and Highways recently highlighted Maharashtra as one of the states with the highest number of road accidents in the past five years. The ministry’s report, based on data from states and Union Territories, revealed that over 7 lakh people have died in road accidents nationwide between 2018 and 2022. Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of fatalities, with 1,08,882 deaths, followed by Tamil Nadu (84,316) and Maharashtra (66,370).
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Ayush Laxman Kinvade, as road safety remains a critical concern in Mumbai and across the state.
