The political landscape in Haryana has been roiled by recent developments involving Dushyant Chautala and his Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), particularly after three Independent MLAs withdrew their support from the BJP-led government.
Efforts are underway to bring a no-confidence motion against the Nayab Singh Saini government, prompting Chautala to ensure the stability of his party’s support base.
According to sources, a significant meeting took place between four JJP MLAs and former BJP Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar at Minister of State Mahipal Dhanda’s residence in Panipat. The discussions, held around 2 pm, reportedly revolved around the current political crisis in Haryana.
The crisis began when three Independent MLAs withdrew their support from the BJP government, leading Dushyant Chautala to declare the government a minority and offer outside support to the Congress.
He subsequently wrote to the Governor, urging a floor test in the assembly to test the government’s majority.

However, a technicality arose regarding the timing of the no-confidence motion, as only one such motion can be brought in a single assembly session. With the next assembly session scheduled for July (monsoon session), options for the opposition are limited. INLD MLA Abhay Singh Chautala has even suggested President’s Rule if an assembly session cannot be convened promptly.
Amidst these developments, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has downplayed the urgency of the situation, suggesting that the Congress is rushing into matters and should focus on the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.
Saini pointed out that a trust vote was won recently, indicating a need for patience until the next assembly session.
Given the impending assembly elections later this year, the efforts to challenge the Saini government could be seen as more symbolic than practical. The political maneuvering underscores the volatility and fluidity of alliances in Haryana’s political landscape ahead of the impending electoral contests.
