In a significant political development in Haryana amidst the Lok Sabha elections, three Independent MLAs have withdrawn their support from the Nayab Singh Saini-led government, dealing a blow to the ruling BJP.
The trio – comprising Sombir Sangwan, Randhir Gollen, and Dharampal Gonder – announced their decision to extend support to the Congress party during a press conference held in Rohtak, in the presence of former Haryana chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and state Congress chief Udai Bhan.
Gonder highlighted that their decision to withdraw support from the Haryana government was based on various issues, particularly those affecting farmers. “We are withdrawing support to the government. We are extending our support to the Congress,” he stated.
Udai Bhan, the Haryana Congress chief, affirmed the support extended by the Independent MLAs to his party, emphasising the diminished strength of the current Haryana Assembly.
In a tweet in Hindi, Bhan said, “Three independent MLAs supported Congress. Even before the results of the Lok Sabha elections are out, trends have started coming in from Haryana. Three independent MLAs in Haryana have withdrawn their support from the Haryana government and given their support to the Congress. We welcome this step of MLA from Charkhi Dadri, Mr. Somveer Sangwan, MLA from Pundri, Mr. Randhir Golan, and MLA from Nilokheri, Mr. Dharampal Gondar. The people of Haryana are soon going to teach a lesson to the anti-people Modi and Khattar governments.”

Highlighting the changed political landscape, Bhan emphasised the loss of majority for the Nayab Singh Saini government following the withdrawal of support from both JJP MLAs and Independents.
“Nayab Singh Saini’s government is now a minority government. He should tender his resignation as he does not have the right to stay even for a minute,” urged Bhan.
In light of these developments, Udai Bhan called for immediate assembly polls to be conducted to reflect the altered political dynamics and allow for a fresh mandate.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission has imposed strict measures on microblogging platform X, instructing it to delete an offensive post shared by the Karnataka BJP. This post had remained online despite previous directives from the state’s chief electoral officer. An FIR has been filed regarding this issue.
