The portfolios for the newly formed Delhi government were officially allocated following a cabinet meeting on Tuesday evening. With Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the helm, key responsibilities have been distributed among her six cabinet colleagues, with Gupta and Parvesh Verma emerging as the most significant figures in the new administration.
Parvesh Verma to Oversee Water and Yamuna Cleanup
Parvesh Verma, son of former Delhi Chief Minister Saheb Singh Verma, has been entrusted with the crucial Water portfolio. He will also oversee the Irrigation and Flood Control Department, a key department responsible for the much-anticipated cleanup of the Yamuna River. Additionally, Kapil Mishra has been appointed to handle the Law Department, reinforcing the government’s legal and judicial framework.
Rekha Gupta Takes Charge of 10 Portfolios, Including Finance
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta will be managing at least ten portfolios, with the government confirming that she will also be responsible for any others yet to be assigned. Among her many roles, Finance stands out as the most significant, positioning her at the core of Delhi’s fiscal planning and economic policies.

Earlier speculations suggested that Gupta might take charge of the Home Department, but instead, this crucial portfolio has been assigned to Ashish Sood, who will also manage six additional departments.
