The woman, who accused Acharya of sexual harassment, had told the media that the choreographer had allegedly asked her to have physical relation with him in order to make it big in the industry.
Mumbai: Days after a co-dancer accused him of sexual harassment and voyeurism, the Mumbai Police Friday reportedly filed a chargesheet against Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya and his assistant. The case pertaining to the sexual harassment was filed against Acharya in 2020 at the Oshiwara police station.
According to reports, charges have been filed under sections 354-a (sexual harassment), 354-c (voyeurism), 354-d (stalking), 509 (insulting the modesty of any woman), 323 (causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention to commit an offence) of the Indian Penal Code.
The woman, who accused Acharya of sexual harassment, had told the media that the choreographer had allegedly asked her to have physical relation with him in order to make it big in the industry. She had further alleged that Acharya had molested her, showed her pornographic content and after she declined his advances, she allegedly lost her membership from an association of choreographers.
While Acharya has remained tight-lipped about the developments, his lawyer was quoted by Hindustan Times as saying, “I don’t have the charge sheet so I cannot say anything, but all the sections in the FIR were bailable.”
On the role of the assistants, the woman had said that she was beaten up by a couple of them. Some of the assistants had even abused her and when she had initially approached the police, they had denied to lodge a complaint. The woman then approached a lawyer and filed a case against Acharya.
Acharya, who is a well-known name in the industry, had recently come in news for choreographing Allu Arjun and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the Oo Antava song in the superhit movie Pushpa.
