According to OYO’s Summer Vacation Index 2023, the surge in domestic travel, catalyzed by Covid restrictions, continues unabated, with a staggering 92% of respondents expressing their intent to explore domestic destinations. Anticipating a bustling summer season, the Indian travel industry is witnessing a surge in demand, shorter booking windows, and the possibility of rising airfares.
Travel companies such as SOTC Travel and EaseMyTrip are experiencing significant growth compared to last year, with SOTC Travel reporting a 25 per cent year-on-year increase in bookings and EaseMyTrip witnessing a staggering 150 per cent rise in travel searches. However, this pent-up demand may lead to higher airfares, with experts predicting a 7-10 per cent increase for domestic travel during the peak season (April-June).
