Actor Ranveer Singh has reported the social media account that was advertising his deepfake video created by artificial intelligence. According to his spokesperson, Ranveer has filed a police complaint and a formal complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell. The action was taken a few days after the actor’s deepfake video began to circulate on social media.
“Yes, we have filed the police complaint and FIR has been lodged against the handle that was promoting the AI-generated deepfake video of Mr. Ranveer Singh,” the spokesperson of Ranveer stated.
The actor is allegedly heard discussing his political beliefs in the deepfake video. The audio is an artificial intelligence (AI) vocal clone of Ranveer. Even the video, which shows the actor during a recent trip to Varanasi.
Subsequently, after the deepfake video surfaced on social media, Ranveer sent a message on his Instagram stories saying, “Deepfake se bacho doston (Friends, beware of deepfakes).”
Deepfake videos have become a growing concern in the entertainment industry, with celebrities often becoming targets of misinformation and fabricated content. Such videos can not only damage a star’s reputation but also spread false narratives and mislead the public.
