The actor was reportedly admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a Delhi hospital, though details about his illness remain unclear. News of his death has left fans and colleagues in shock.
Actress Deepshikha Nagpal Confirms Mukul Dev’s Death
Actress Deepshikha Nagpal, a close friend of Mukul Dev, was among the first to confirm the news. Sharing a throwback picture with the actor on her Instagram Stories, she wrote, “Can’t believe this. RIP.”
She said: “We were more than co-stars—we were friends. We had a group chat where we regularly updated each other. But this time, he said nothing about being unwell. It’s unbelievable… I still feel it must be fake news.”
She added, “Nobody knows the reason behind his sudden death. We heard he was in the ICU, but I don’t want to spread rumors. What’s devastating is that he’s no longer with us. He was such an amazing actor and human being.”
Mukul Dev began his acting journey on television in 1996 with the serial Mumkin, playing the role of Vijay Pandey. He later gained recognition hosting Ek Se Badhkar Ek, a comedy countdown show on Doordarshan, and the first season of Fear Factor India. His film debut came in 1996 with Dastak, where he starred alongside Sushmita Sen as ACP Rohit Malhotra.

Born in New Delhi into a Punjabi family, Mukul Dev hailed from a village near Jalandhar. His father, Hari Dev, served as an Assistant Commissioner of Police and influenced Mukul’s early exposure to Afghan culture. Impressively, Mukul was fluent in Pashto and Persian.
At just 13, Mukul’s first taste of fame came from impersonating Michael Jackson in a Doordarshan dance show—a performance that earned him his first paycheck. Outside acting, he was also a trained pilot, having studied at the Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi.
Mukul Dev is survived by his daughter, Sia Dev, and siblings including actor Rahul Dev. The film and television industries have poured in tributes remembering him as a talented actor and a warm-hearted individual.
