Sandipan Garg, a cousin of late singer Zubeen Garg, has been arrested amid the ongoing probe into the singer’s death during his trip to Singapore, officials confirmed. Sandipan, who serves in the Assam Police Service, is the fifth person to be arrested in the case.
Zubeen Garg, 52, died on September 1 during the North East India Festival in Singapore. He had gone for a swim at a yacht party and was found floating face down in the water.
Sandipan, who accompanied the singer on what was his first foreign trip, was also present at the yacht party. He was taken into custody on Friday.
“The accused will be presented in court and police remand will be sought,” said Special Investigation Team (SIT) chief MP Gupta.
