After a meeting with party observers Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Bhupesh Baghel, and DK Shivakumar in Shimla, Himachal Pradersh Congress MLA Vikramaditya Singh announced that he would refrain from pushing for his resignation until the observers’ dialogue concludes.
“In the broader interest and unity of the party, I have decided not to insist on my resignation, which the Chief Minister declined to accept earlier in the day,” he stated.
In a significant blow to the Congress in Himachal Pradesh, State Minister Vikramaditya Singh had tendered his resignation on Wednesday morning, citing Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s alleged disregard for MLAs and disrespect towards his late father, Virbhadra Singh. Virbhadra Singh was a towering figure within the state’s Congress party.

However, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu did not accept his resignation.
Meanwhile, amid an unrest, there were reports that the Chief Minister has tendered his resignation. Following reports suggesting Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s offer to resign, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh clarified, stating, “I haven’t tendered any resignation. I am committed to the fight like a warrior.”
He said he is determined that the Congress party would retain power in the state for the next five years.

The Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh faces imminent instability, with uncertainty looming over its future following six of its MLAs siding with the BJP candidate in the recent Rajya Sabha polls, leading to the victory of BJP’s Harsh Mahajan.
Meanwhile, the Vidhan Sabha concluded its session after passing the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 and the related Appropriation Bill, empowering the government to utilize Rs 6,24,21.73 crore from the consolidated fund.
Notably, the budget was passed in the absence of BJP members, as 15 of them were suspended, and the remaining ten staged a walkout in protest. The adjournment occurred a day earlier than scheduled, amidst the turmoil sparked by the outcome of the Rajya Sabha polls.
