New Delhi: Following reports suggesting Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s offer to resign, the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh clarified, stating, “I haven’t tendered any resignation. I am committed to the fight like a warrior.”
He said he is determined that the Congress party would retain power in the state for the next five years.
The Congress-led government in Himachal Pradesh faces imminent instability, with uncertainty looming over its future following six of its MLAs siding with the BJP candidate in the recent Rajya Sabha polls, leading to the victory of BJP’s Harsh Mahajan.
Additionally, MLA Vikramaditya Singh announced his resignation from the council of ministers, citing “humiliation” of MLAs by the current administration.
Meanwhile, the Vidhan Sabha concluded its session after passing the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25 and the related Appropriation Bill, empowering the government to utilize Rs 6,24,21.73 crore from the consolidated fund.

In a significant blow to the Congress in Himachal Pradesh, State Minister Vikramaditya Singh tendered his resignation on Wednesday morning, citing Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s alleged disregard for MLAs and disrespect towards his late father, Virbhadra Singh.
Virbhadra Singh was a towering figure within the state’s Congress party.
Meanwhile, Navjot Singh Sidhu, a prominent leader of the Congress party in Punjab, launched a scathing attack on the six party lawmakers who cross-voted in the recent Rajya Sabha election.
He tweeted, “The Himachal fiasco calls for an assessment of assets and liabilities for The Grand Old Party ??? …. “Masqueraders” on plum posts covertly dancing to the tunes of agencies like CBI, ED and IT have spelt dooms day for us many a times ! The loss is not @DrAMSinghvi Sahb’s but larger….. It is essential to purge the party of those who prioritize personal gain over the collective good, for their actions inflict profound wounds on the party’s very existence….. the wounds might heal but the mental scars will remain…… Their gain is the congress worker’s biggest pain….Loyalty is not everything but the only thing !!!”
