Over two years since the shocking murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, the key accused Goldy Brar has openly claimed responsibility in an explosive interview with the BBC, stating that Moose Wala “had to face the consequences” for his actions. Brar, operating from Canada, is a known associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and is designated a terrorist under India’s Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Moose Wala was gunned down in May 2022, when over 100 bullets were fired at his SUV near his native village in Punjab’s Mansa district. The brazen daylight killing stunned the nation and triggered an international manhunt for Brar.
‘He Used Political Power Against Us’: Goldy Brar Accuses Moose Wala of Siding with Rivals
In the BBC interview, Brar claimed Moose Wala’s growing connections with rival groups and use of political influence led to his targeting.
“In his arrogance, he [Moose Wala] made some mistakes that could not be forgiven. We had no option but to kill him. It was either him or us,” Brar said.
He alleged that Moose Wala supported rival groups during a kabaddi tournament, igniting tensions within the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
“That’s a village our rivals come from. He was promoting our rivals,” Brar said.

“They threatened Sidhu and said they wouldn’t spare him.”
Though tensions had once been settled through intermediary Vicky Middukhera, his murder in Mohali in 2021 rekindled the hostility. Brar suggested that Moose Wala was complicit in Middukhera’s death.
“Everyone knew Sidhu’s role… even the journalists investigating knew,” he alleged.
‘No Regrets’: Goldy Brar Dismisses Justice System, Defends Vigilante Killing
Brar defended the extrajudicial killing, claiming Moose Wala’s political and financial influence shielded him from legal repercussions.
“He should have been booked. He should have been jailed. But nobody listened to our plea,” Brar said. “When decency falls on deaf ears, it’s the gunshot that gets heard.”
When questioned about whether his actions were lawful, Brar dismissed the Indian justice system outright: “Law. Justice. There’s no such thing. Only the powerful can [obtain] justice, not ordinary people like us. I did what I had to do for my brother. I have no remorse whatsoever.”
The Home Ministry has accused Goldy Brar of orchestrating terror-related activities, including weapon smuggling via drones across the India-Pakistan border and ties to Babbar Khalsa International. Interpol has issued a Red Corner Notice, and Indian agencies continue efforts to bring him to justice.
