Pakistan’s jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan claimed that he had turned down the offer which gave him an opportunity of leaving the country on exile for three years.
In a post on X on Friday, Khan highlighted, “I was offered the opportunity of a three-year exile while I was in Attock Jail, but I will live and die in Pakistan”.
In a conversation, with media persons at the Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, where he has been imprisoned since August 2023, Khan claimed, that he had been “indirectly approached” with an offer to get transferred to his in Bani Gala residence in Islamabad. Khan posted on X, “My stance is clear: release my detained workers and leaders first. Only then I will consider discussing my personal situation.”
The Pakistan Tehreek -e-Insaf (PTI) founder further pointed out that he firmly believes all the decisions regarding him must be taken within the country.

Further, Khan added, about his firm belief in international forums for justice when he said, “However, when it comes to basic human rights, voices will naturally rise globally. Institutions like the United Nations exist for this purpose. Enlightened people all over the world raise their voices against violation of basic rights.”
‘Authoritarian era’: Imran Khan
Khan pointed out, in an “authoritarian era”, violation of fundamental rights and destruction of institutions tend to affect the social and political system of the country.
Imran says, “Even in Musharaff’s era, we criticized military interference but never faced such oppression and fascism”.
Khan also added, “Our negotiation committee is engaging with the government. Our demands are legitimate — formation of a judicial commission on November 26, 2024 and May 9, 2023 incidents, release of political prisoners.”
Recently, Imran Khan’s party supporters attacked the Pakistan’s army headquarters in Rawalpindi and the ISI building in Faisalabad, to showcase their anger against the arrest of their party founder in a corruption case.
The former Prime Minister accused the Director General ISPR (media wing of army) of spreading false narratives. In a statement, Khan said, “Our people were directly shot at and martyred on November 26. The entire truth will be revealed when transparent investigations of these two incidents are conducted.”
