In a heart-wrenching incident on Saturday, four soldiers lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries when an Army truck skidded off the road and plunged into a gorge in the Bandipora district. The accident occurred near the SK Payen area, according to officials. The injured soldiers were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.
This tragic event follows a similar accident last month in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, where five soldiers died, and five others were injured after their truck fell into a 300-foot gorge. The Army’s White Knight Corps had expressed their sorrow on social media, stating, “All ranks of #WhiteKnightCorps extend their deepest condolences on the tragic loss of five brave soldiers in a vehicle accident during operational duty in the #Poonch sector.”

The recent accident in Bandipora has once again brought the issue of road safety in the region into focus. Several leaders have expressed their condolences and grief over the incidents.

Call for Safety Measures
These recurring incidents highlight the challenging terrain and road conditions faced by personnel operating in the region. The Army and local authorities are likely to review safety protocols to prevent such tragedies in the future.
