Ayodhya’s Deepotsav celebration this year marked a new world record as over 28 lakh diyas (earthen lamps) illuminated the banks of the Sarayu River, creating a breathtaking spectacle and solidifying the city’s status as a significant cultural and spiritual center.
Exceeding their target of 25 lakh diyas, organizers set a global benchmark with this impressive display of lights, showcasing Ayodhya’s deep-rooted tradition and spirituality.
Cultural Performances Enhance Festive Spirit
The grandeur of Deepotsav was further amplified by a series of captivating performances from artists representing six countries, including Myanmar, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, Cambodia, and Indonesia.
A special Ram Leela performance from Uttarakhand added to the spiritual ambiance, while local artists from different Indian states also graced the stage, highlighting the event’s commitment to cultural diversity and unity.

Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath Leads the Aarti and Ramayan Procession
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath played an active role in the Deepotsav celebrations, leading the aarti (traditional prayer) and participating in the grand Ramayan procession, symbolizing Ayodhya’s connection to Lord Ram.

The CM was seen pulling the chariot featuring performers portraying scenes from the Ramayan, bringing a sense of historical reverence to the modern-day celebration.
Tableaux Depicting Ramcharitmanas Episodes
In a bid to encapsulate the spiritual essence of Ayodhya, this year’s Deepotsav showcased 18 beautifully crafted tableaux. Eleven tableaux were designed by the Information Department, and seven by the Tourism Department, portraying episodes from Tulsidas’s Ramcharitmanas, such as Bal Kand, Ayodhya Kand, Aranya Kand, Kishkindha Kand, Sundar Kand, Lanka Kand, and Uttar Kand. These detailed depictions served as visual narratives, engaging attendees in the traditional stories and values of Ayodhya.
First Deepotsav Post Pran Pratishtha of Ram Mandir
This year’s Deepotsav is the first following the Pran Pratishtha (installation of the deity) ceremony at the newly established Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. According to Uttar Pradesh Minister Jaiveer Singh, every effort was made to enhance the festival’s grandeur and sacred atmosphere, ensuring it reflects the divinity of the holy city.
