The Bangladesh PM said that India is a ‘tested friend’ as it has stood with her country during the hours of need from 1971 to other occasions.
New Delhi: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ensuring rescue of Bangladeshi students from European countries during the Russia-Ukraine war. Hasina also lauded Modi for providing Covid vaccines during the outbreak. The Bangladesh PM stressed on close ties with India as both the countries are neighbours. She said that both the countries should address their differences through dialogues.
The Bangladesh Prime Minister, who is all set to visit India this week, said that both the countries have resolved issues. She said that many students from her country were stuck like Indian students during the war between Russia and Ukraine and the Indian government brought students to the country safely.
Talking about the Indian government`s Vaccine Maitri programme, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that it’s a great initiative taken by her Indian counterpart. She thanked Prime Minister Modi for both the initiatives- evacuation of students and Vaccine Maitri programme. She said that India not only provided vaccines to Bangladesh while to other countries also. The gesture was really very helpful during the pandemic.

She said that she remembers India’s contribution during the 1971 war and in 1975 when she lost her family members. She said that the Indian Prime Minister gave them shelter in India. She said that both the countries are close neighbours hence give importance to each other. She added that the relationship between both Bangladesh and India should be for the betterment of the people.
