The Supreme Court on Tuesday strongly criticized YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia while hearing his plea regarding multiple FIRs filed against him for making obscene remarks on comedian Samay Raina’s YouTube show India’s Got Latent.
During the hearing, the bench, led by Justice Surya Kant, took a strong stance against Allahbadia’s remarks. “If this is not obscene, then what is? You can show your vulgarity anytime and show depravity. There are only two FIRs. One in Mumbai and one in Assam. Liberty is a separate issue. It is not that every case is targeting you, and you are entangled. Suppose 100 FIRs are there he can say he cannot defend himself,” said Justice Kant.
Further condemning the influencer’s remarks, the judge added, “Such behaviour has to be condemned. Just because you are popular, you cannot take society for granted. Is there anyone on earth who will like this language? There is something very dirty in his mind which has been vomited. Why should we protect him?”

The court emphasized the impact of Allahbadia’s words on societal values. “The words you have chosen, parents will feel ashamed. Daughters and sisters will feel ashamed. The entire society will be ashamed. These are the levels of depravity you and your henchmen have gone. The rule of law and system has to be followed,” Justice Kant stated.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had refused to give Allahbadia an urgent hearing.
Multiple FIRs Filed Against Ranveer Allahbadia
As of now, at least three FIRs have been registered against Allahbadia. The first FIR was lodged in Assam, the second in Mumbai, and a third was filed in Jaipur on Monday. The Mumbai and Guwahati Police have claimed that the popular influencer remains “continuously out of contact.”
The controversy erupted over Allahbadia’s remarks on India’s Got Latent, particularly regarding “parents and sex.” Following the backlash, the show was removed from YouTube, and Allahbadia issued an apology. He stated, “The remark was not just inappropriate, it wasn’t even funny. Comedy is not my forte. I’m just here to say sorry.”
Legal Action and Summons Issued
The Maharashtra Cyber Department has taken serious steps in the investigation, summoning a total of 42 individuals, including artists, producers, and influencers involved in the YouTube show. “Prima facie accused include Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, and Ranveer Allahbadia. Statements have already been recorded from Devesh Dixit, Raghu Ram, and one other individual,” said Yashasvi Yadav, Inspector General, Maharashtra Cyber Cell.

Authorities have warned that an arrest warrant may be issued against the primary accused if they fail to cooperate. Sources informed India Today that Allahbadia, along with others, has repeatedly ignored the summons. The Maharashtra Cyber Department, Guwahati Police, Mumbai Police, Jaipur Police, and the National Commission for Women (NCW) have all called upon him to appear, but no response has been received.
The Maharashtra Cyber Department has issued fresh summons, demanding Allahbadia’s appearance on February 24. However, he has informed the NCW that he has been receiving death threats and requested a rescheduled hearing after three weeks. The Commission has accepted his request and postponed the hearing to March 6.
Other YouTubers Also Face Legal Action
In addition to Allahbadia, multiple FIRs have been filed against popular YouTubers Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Makhija (also known as The Rebel Kid). The case continues to develop, with authorities closely monitoring the actions of those involved.
With legal scrutiny intensifying, Ranveer Allahbadia and his co-accused face mounting pressure to respond to the charges. As the investigation unfolds, the public awaits further action from law enforcement and the judiciary in this high-profile controversy.
