New Delhi: After battling for his life for over a month, comedian Raju Srivastava died in Delhi on Wednesday morning. He was 58.
The comedian had suffered a cardiac arrest while working out at a gym. Srivastav was declared dead around 10.20. Talking to the media, his brother Dipoo Srivastav said, “I got a call from the family saying he has passed away. It is an unfortunate news. He was fighting for his life in the hospital for over 40 days.”
Tweeting his condolences, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said, “Renowned comedian Raju Srivastav ji had a unique style, he impressed everyone with his amazing talent. His death is a great loss to the art world. I express my condolences to his family and fans. May God give them the strength to bear this grief.”
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh also condoled Raju Srivastav’s death and said, “I am deeply saddened by the passing away of renowned comedian, Raju Srivastav ji. Apart from being an accomplished artist, he was also a very lively person. He was also very active in the social field. I extend my condolences to his bereaved family and fans.”
On September 1, almost three weeks after suffering from heart attack, Raju Srivastav was put on ventilator support again. According to reports, Srivastav was put on a ventilator after he ran a fever of nearly 100 degrees.
Srivastav had on August 25 gained consciousness. The comedian’s personal secretary, Garvit Narang, had said Srivastava is being monitored by the doctors at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi.
