Renaming of Mumbai railway stations: The Maharashtra Legislative Assembly has unanimously passed a government resolution to rename several railway stations on the Central, Western, and Harbour Railway lines. The resolution, introduced by Minister Dadaji Bhuse, will now be sent to the Centre for approval.

The renaming initiative aims to replace names with colonial connections with those reflecting local heritage and identity. Here are the proposed changes:

Central Railway Line

Currey Road will be renamed as Lalbaug

Sandhurst Road will be renamed as Dongri

Western Railway Line

Marine Lines will be renamed as Mumba Devi

Charni Road will be renamed as Girgaum

Harbour Railway Line

Cotton Road will be renamed as Kala Chowki

Dockyard Road will be renamed as Mazgaon

Kings Circle will be renamed as Tirthankar Parshwanath

Apart from renaming Mumbai railway stations, Shiv Sena (UBT) legislator Aaditya Thackeray has urged the state government to continue advocating for the renaming of Aurangabad International Airport to Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Airport. Congress legislator Nitin Raut has also proposed renaming Dadar railway station on the Central Railway line to Chaityabhoomi.
