PM Modi began his address by expressing deep sorrow over the tragic accident in Mana village, offering condolences to the bereaved families. “The nation stands in solidarity during this crisis, providing strength to the affected families,” he stated.
Describing Uttarakhand as “Devbhoomi” (Land of the Gods), Modi highlighted its spiritual significance, mentioning its sacred sites, including the Char Dham and Mukhwa, where Maa Ganga is revered during winter.

He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to visit Harsil, recalling the warmth of local women (Didi-Bhuliyas) who often send him Harsil’s famous rajma and local produce.
Making Uttarakhand a Year-Round Tourist Destination
PM Modi reiterated his vision that the 2020s would be the decade of Uttarakhand’s development, emphasizing the need to eliminate the concept of an “off-season” for tourism.
Currently, tourism peaks between March and June, leaving hotels and homestays vacant for most of the year. He stressed that winter tourism could provide economic stability, create employment, and benefit local businesses.

Massive Infrastructure Boost: Roads, Ropeways and Connectivity
The Prime Minister outlined major infrastructure projects aimed at enhancing connectivity and accessibility:
- Char Dham All-Weather Road for better pilgrim access
- Expressways, railways, and helicopter services expansion
- Kedarnath and Hemkund Ropeway Projects to cut travel time significantly
- Eco-log huts, convention centers, and helipads to support tourism
He emphasized that these projects will reduce travel difficulties and boost local businesses while preserving Uttarakhand’s natural beauty.

PM Modi called upon young content creators to promote Uttarakhand’s winter tourism through social media, photography, and travel vlogs.
He suggested a state-organized competition for short films showcasing Uttarakhand’s beauty, ensuring wider digital outreach.
