New Delhi: Aiming to mitigate air pollution and increase the city’s green cover, Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s Homeopathy and Allopathy departments jointly carried out a plantation drive in the Mehrauli area on Friday. Both the departments, through the move, gave a message to the citizens to increase green cover by ensuring plantation of saplings, shrubs and trees in the national Capital and make the city green.
Tree plantation drive was organized by the MCD’s Homeopathic Dispensary and Urban Public Health Centre (UPHC) including MCW center of Mehrauli. The drive was to mark the 75th years of Independence and to contribute to the celebration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav around the country.
The event was memorable as the majority of corporation employees including doctors and other medical staff ensured their active participation beyond the duty hours. In this regard, a meeting was held in the chamber of CAMO south zone Dr Nirmal Kataria, on the request of the Medical officer (Homoeopathy) Dr Dillip Senapati in the presence of RMS UPHC Dr Devender. Unitedly, they decided to start the event after 3 pm so that patients do not suffer and staff can participate and contribute well.
The staff planted many trees including a few medicinal plants on the premises of the health unit. Asoka tree for female disorders, Jamun tree for diabetes among them. Many flowering plants and trees of daily use are also planted in the compound of the UPHC.
All units of the Homeopathy department have also celebrated this Amrit Mahotsav Week in their respective units to comply with the order of the Director (Homeopathy) on July 15.
