The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) turned the iconic Eden Gardens into a breathtaking sea of blue lights to celebrate Team India’s ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 victory. The dazzling display paid homage to the women’s team that made history with their first-ever World Cup title.
The stadium’s front façade glowed with visuals of the jubilant players, symbolizing the nation’s pride and joy in their record-breaking achievement.
The CAB’s grand tribute drew fans and passersby alike, who gathered outside the illuminated stadium to capture the moment. The vibrant setup not only honoured the champions but also reflected the growing recognition of women’s cricket in India.
“As the home of cricket in Bengal, we wanted to celebrate their success and express our heartfelt congratulations through this special tribute,” said Sourav Ganguly, former India captain and President of CAB.
He reflected on the journey of women’s cricket, saying, “Twenty years ago, when women’s cricket struggled due to lack of infrastructure, not many were confident about its future. Kudos to all the women who fought hard to take the game to the next level. When I became BCCI President, I was thrilled to strengthen the foundation of women’s cricket. Winning the 50-over World Cup is just the beginning—women’s cricket will go even bigger from here.”
Celebrating a New Era for Indian Women’s Cricket
The CAB’s tribute symbolised the nation’s growing admiration for women cricketers who have redefined Indian sports with grit, consistency, and world-class performances.
Officials said the initiative was part of CAB’s ongoing commitment to promote women’s cricket in Bengal and across India, reinforcing its mission to create equal opportunities for female athletes.
“This celebration reaffirms CAB’s pledge to support women’s cricket and nurture emerging talent who will carry India’s legacy forward,” a CAB spokesperson said.
