Karnataka sex videos scandal: Suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna, facing charges of sexual abuse, has sought anticipatory bail from a Bengaluru court. Revanna, who has been on the run since a sex tape scandal emerged last month, is currently in Germany but is expected to return to India on May 31.
Revanna’s bail plea was presented in the Special Court for People’s Representatives, which has issued a notice to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to file objections. Despite his lawyer’s request for a hearing on Thursday, the SIT requested additional time, leading Justice Santosh Gajanan Bhat to schedule the next hearing for May 31.
The 36-year-old MP from Hassan left the country after purported sex videos allegedly involving him surfaced post the second phase of polling on April 26.
Multiple cases were subsequently filed against him. In a video message released on Monday, Prajwal Revanna announced his intention to return to India and cooperate with the SIT investigation.

Upon his arrival at Bengaluru Airport, the SIT plans to arrest Prajwal Revanna immediately. Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara confirmed the issuance of an arrest warrant and the preparedness of the SIT to detain him for questioning as soon as he lands.
According to official sources, Prajwal Revanna has booked a flight from Munich to Bengaluru on May 30 and is expected to arrive in the early hours of May 31. The allegations against him include sexually abusing multiple women, leading to an Interpol ‘Blue Corner Notice’ issued via the CBI to ascertain his whereabouts. Additionally, a Special Court for Elected Representatives issued an arrest warrant on May 18 following an SIT application.
The Karnataka government has also requested the Centre to revoke Revanna’s diplomatic passport. This scandal has also implicated Revanna’s father, Karnataka MLA HD Revanna, who faces charges of sexual harassment and abduction, though he has been granted bail in both cases.
