In a dramatic turn of events, Janata Dal Secular (JDS) leader and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has issued a stern ultimatum to his grandson Prajwal Revanna, demanding his immediate return to India to face legal proceedings. Deve Gowda made this announcement in a post on X (formerly Twitter), expressing his impatience and disappointment with Prajwal’s actions.

“I have issued a warning to @iPrajwalRevanna to return immediately from wherever he is and subject himself to the legal process. He should not test my patience any further,” Deve Gowda stated emphatically in his post.

The accompanying letter, dated May 23, 2024, and titled “My Warning To Prajwal Revanna,” detailed his feelings of betrayal and the impact of Prajwal’s actions on their family and the party.

In the letter, Deve Gowda recounted his public comments on May 18, when he was on his way to a temple to offer prayers. He described the personal turmoil and disappointment he has experienced since the scandal involving Prajwal Revanna surfaced. “It took me some time to recover from the shock and pain he (Revanna) has inflicted on me, my entire family, my colleagues, friends, and party workers,” he wrote.

The JDS leader did not mince words about the consequences he believes Prajwal should face. He emphasised that Prajwal Revanna should be subject to the “harshest of punishments,” a sentiment shared by his son, former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy.

Deve Gowda acknowledged the public outrage and criticism directed at his family, stating that he understood the harsh words being used and did not wish to argue against them. “I am aware of it. I do not wish to stop them. I do not wish to criticize them. I will not try and argue with them that they should have waited until the facts were found out,” he said, expressing his regret over the situation.

The scandal has led to significant political fallout. On the same day as Deve Gowda’s letter, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, requesting the cancellation of Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport. The request followed allegations of a sex scandal involving Prajwal Revanna that surfaced last month, leading to his absconding. Sources informed India Today TV that the Ministry of External Affairs is currently processing the Karnataka government’s request.

As the situation unfolds, all eyes are on Prajwal Revanna and his next move. The demand for his return and surrender to the police highlights the seriousness of the allegations and the determination of his family and party to address the issue head-on.
