Health insurance for lawyers: In a landmark move aimed at the welfare of the legal fraternity, the Jharkhand government on Sunday launched a dedicated health insurance scheme for lawyers and their dependents. Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the initiative under the “Rajyakarmi Swasthya Bima Yojana” at Harivansh Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium, Ranchi, describing it as a “historic day” for the state’s advocates.
“This is a significant step to ease the burden of healthcare responsibilities that many of our respected lawyers carry. The state government has taken that weight upon its own shoulders,” said Soren during his address.
Major Relief for Legal Professionals
The Chief Minister acknowledged the financial and social pressures faced by lawyers and said the health insurance scheme is designed to directly address those concerns. He also noted that the government is actively formulating a roadmap to establish a premier law university in Jharkhand.
“We want to build one of the country’s best law universities right here in Jharkhand. Work has already begun in this direction,” Soren announced to loud applause.
Reiterating his government’s inclusive development agenda, Soren said, “Whether rich or poor, rural or urban, youth or elderly—every citizen matters to us. Our efforts are rooted in ensuring holistic development for all sections of society.”
He expressed deep concern over the historical underdevelopment of Jharkhand and vowed that his administration is committed to turning the tide through continuous and result-driven governance.

“It is painful that our state is still counted among the backward ones. But that motivates us to act more aggressively to change the status quo,” he said.
Every Moment of Government is for the People
Thanking the people for their trust, the Chief Minister affirmed that every moment of the state government’s time is dedicated to public service. He noted the growing support for his administration and credited it to transparent and responsive governance.
“If we work for the people, they will naturally rally behind us. That’s why the public has reposed even stronger faith in us than before.”
Soren emphasized that solving people’s problems remains a top priority for his government. “We’ve worked from villages to cities to identify and resolve issues across sectors. Today’s scheme for lawyers is part of that effort.”

Push for Higher Education with Guruji Credit Card
Highlighting efforts in education, the Chief Minister encouraged lawyers to help their children benefit from the Guruji Credit Card Scheme, which offers collateral-free loans of up to ₹15 lakh for higher education.
“Whether your child wants to become an engineer, doctor, lawyer, or journalist, this scheme will ensure no financial hurdle stands in their way,” said Soren.
He concluded his address by extending warm greetings to the entire legal community on what he called a momentous occasion.
