Three terrorists are believed to have been killed in two separate encounters between security forces and terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, as anti-terror operations continue in the region. The encounters, which took place in Kupwara and Rajouri districts, were initiated after security forces launched search operations in response to suspected terrorist movements, according to official sources.
The first encounter began in Kupwara’s Tangdhar sector on the evening of August 28, 2024, when troops intercepted an infiltration attempt by terrorists near the Line of Control (LoC).
“Based on intelligence inputs with respect to likely infiltration bids, a Joint Operation was launched by the Indian Army and Jammu & Kashmir Police on the intervening night of 28-29 Aug 24 in the general area Machhal, Kupwara. Suspicious movement was observed in bad weather and was engaged with effective firing by own troops; two terrorists are likely to have been neutralised,” the army’s Srinagar-based Chinar Corps stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
