IPL 2024: In a thrilling encounter at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, the Kolkata Knight Riders clinched a nail-biting victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 3 of the Tata IPL 2024. A spectacular final over by Harshit Rana, defending 13 runs, sealed the win for KKR, despite a valiant effort from the Sunrisers.
The match saw an outstanding all-round performance from Andre Russell, who smashed 64 runs off just 25 balls and also contributed with the ball, taking 2 wickets for 25 runs. Earlier, KKR recovered from a shaky start to post a formidable total of 208/7, with Russell leading the charge alongside Ramandeep Singh, who scored 35 runs off 17 balls.
Chasing 209 runs for victory, the Sunrisers got off to a solid start with openers Mayank Agarwal and Abhishek Sharma scoring 60 runs within the Powerplay. However, Harshit Rana provided a crucial breakthrough by dismissing Agarwal, setting the stage for a tense encounter.
Despite several partnerships and individual contributions, the Sunrisers fell short of the target in the final over. Heinrich Klaasen’s whirlwind innings of 63 runs from 29 balls almost turned the tide in favor of the Sunrisers, but Rana’s brilliance in the final over secured the win for KKR.
It was a thrilling match that showcased the competitive spirit of both teams, with KKR emerging victorious by a narrow margin of four runs.
