In a tense encounter along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri sector, the Indian Army successfully repelled a major infiltration attempt, suspected to be backed by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT). Tragically, the operation claimed the life of one Indian soldier, marking a somber moment amid heightened border tensions.
Fierce Clash in Uri Sector Halts Infiltration Bid
On Wednesday, alert Indian Army troops stationed in the Uri sector of Baramulla district detected and foiled a significant infiltration attempt near Tikka Post along the LoC.
The operation, occurring within the Area of Responsibility (AOR) of 16 Sikh LI (09 Bihar Advance Party) and under the jurisdiction of Police Station Uri, involved a fierce exchange of fire. Reports suggest the infiltration was supported by Pakistan’s Border Action Team (BAT), known for orchestrating cross-border terrorist strikes.
While the Army’s swift response neutralized the threat, one soldier made the ultimate sacrifice during the firefight. Official confirmation from the Indian Army is still awaited as operations continued into Wednesday morning.
This incident follows closely on the heels of another loss in the region. On Tuesday, the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps mourned the death of Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar, who lost his life while on operational duty in Baramulla.
In a heartfelt post on X, the Chinar Corps stated, “Chinar Corps deeply regret the loss of the precious life of Braveheart Sepoy Banoth Anil Kumar, while performing operational duty along the Line of Control in Baramulla district.
