IMD said, “Thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds very likely over Assam and Meghalaya during next five days; over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next two days.”
New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday said due to the influence of strong southwesterly winds from Bay of Bengal to northeastern states and a cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand, widespread rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim in the next five days. Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Assam and Meghalaya from April 19, 21, 22 and 23.
The bulletin added, “Thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds very likely over Assam and Meghalaya during next five days; over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next two days.”
It also said, “Isolated to scattered rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning, gusty winds very likely over Bihar, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Odisha during next five days.”
Meanwhile, under the influence of a western disturbance, light scattered or fairly widespread rainfall accompanied with “isolated thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds very likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and Himachal Pradesh during next four days and over Uttarakhand on April 21 and 22. Isolated hailstorm also likely over Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad on April 19; over Himachal Pradesh on April 20 and over Uttarakhand on April 21 and 22”.
The weathermen also predicted light isolated rainfall with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi during the next three days; over West Madhya Pradesh on April 20 and 21; over East Madhya Pradesh during April 20 to 22; over Vidarbha during April 21 to 23 and over Chhattisgarh during April 19 to 23.
“Duststorm at isolated places very likely over Rajasthan and West Uttar Pradesh on April 20 and 21; East Uttar Pradesh on April 21 and 22,” IMD added.
It further added that under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over south Tamil Nadu in lower tropospheric levels, “Scattered/fairly widespread rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds very likely over Kerala-Mahe during next five days and isolated rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm/lightning/gusty winds over TamilnaduPuducherry-Karaikal, Karnataka, coastal Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during next five days.”
