The mother of Himani Narwal, the 22-year-old Congress worker whose body was found stuffed in a suitcase near a bus stand in Rohtak on Saturday, has made a shocking claim about her daughter’s murder, raising serious questions about possible political involvement.
The tragic incident has triggered widespread demands for a high-level investigation, with many questioning the law-and-order situation in the state.
Mother Alleges Political Conspiracy
The India Today quoted Himani’s mother, Savita Narwal, who alleged that individuals within the Congress party might have been involved in her daughter’s murder. She suggested that some party members may have viewed Himani’s rising political career as a threat.
“My daughter sacrificed a lot for Congress. Party members used to visit our home frequently. Some people within the party might be involved in her murder because they saw her as a challenge,” she said.
Savita also revealed that she last spoke to her daughter on February 27. Himani was scheduled to attend a rally by senior Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda the following day. However, when her mother tried to contact her, Himani’s phone was found to be switched off.
Himani’s Role in the Congress and Internal Conflicts
Himani Narwal had been actively involved with the Congress for the past 10 years and even traveled to Srinagar with Congress MP Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. She was known for advocating clean politics and had reportedly faced resistance from within the party.
“Himani wanted to bring change. She believed in honesty, but some individuals tried to create obstacles for her,” Savita said.

She further claimed that her daughter frequently spoke about problems within the party and had confrontations with senior Congress leaders.
“If someone told her she needed to compromise, she would refuse. She always stood for what was right,” she added.
During the Bharat Jodo Yatra, Himani had disagreements over accommodation arrangements, as she preferred staying alone due to dietary restrictions, avoiding onion and garlic.
Lack of Response from Congress Leadership
Savita expressed disappointment that no senior Congress leaders had reached out to their family after Himani’s murder.
“I met Asha Hooda, and Hooda Saheb knows us, but no Congress leader has spoken to us yet,” she lamented, demanding the death penalty for her daughter’s killers.
Police Investigation Underway
Authorities are actively investigating the case, with the Rohtak police forming four special teams to track down those responsible.
A police official, who first responded to the discovery of the suitcase, told India Today: “We have gathered some leads and will soon reveal the truth.”
With the investigation ongoing, pressure is mounting on both the Haryana police and the Congress party to ensure justice for Himani Narwal.
