Renowned Bollywood actor Govinda was hospitalized early Tuesday after suffering a bullet injury to his leg. The accident occurred when his licensed revolver accidentally discharged while he was at home in Mumbai, preparing to travel to Kolkata. Despite the mishap, the 60-year-old actor is in stable condition, and he has expressed gratitude for the blessings and prayers from his fans.
The incident took place around 4:45 am at Govinda’s Juhu residence. According to his manager, Shashi Sinha, the actor was placing his revolver in a cupboard when it slipped from his hands, discharging a bullet that struck him below the knee. Fortunately, the injury was not life-threatening.
Govinda, who was alone at the time, immediately contacted his wife, Sunita Ahuja, who was in Kolkata, and his manager. Local police responded quickly, and the actor was rushed to Criticare Hospital for treatment.
Hours after the accident, Govinda released an audio clip to reassure his fans. Speaking in a raspy voice, the actor said, “I was hit by a bullet, but it has been extracted.
I thank the doctors here and your prayers.” He credited his recovery to the blessings of his fans, parents, and guru.

“We had a 6 am flight to catch for a show in Kolkata, and I had already reached the airport when this unfortunate incident occurred,” said Sinha, adding, “It is due to God’s grace that Govinda ji sustained only a leg injury and it was nothing serious.” Govinda’s wife, Sunita, left for Mumbai as soon as she was informed of the accident. His daughter, Tina, is by his side at the hospital.
Police officials have confirmed that no complaint has been registered regarding the incident, as the actor holds a valid gun license. Govinda, who is also a prominent Shiv Sena leader, is expected to make a full recovery, though his future travel plans have been temporarily suspended.
This accidental injury has sent waves of concern through his massive fan base, but Govinda’s message of gratitude and assurance has offered them much-needed relief.
