Noida: In a critical operation, doctors at Kailash Hospital saved the hand of a five-year-old boy from being amputated with the help of microvascular surgery, the hospital administration informed Tuesday. The boy, identified as Rishabh, is a resident of Greater Noida’s Surajpur village.
Rishabh’s left wrist was almost cut off from the rest of the arm in an accident involving a chaff cutter machine on February 22. He was initially taken to the Greater Noida unit of the hospital and later shifted to the Noida unit and admitted to the Casualty department.

“Due to the injury, there was excess loss of blood, damage of tissues, neurovascular and bone as well,” said the doctors.
A doctor at the Casualty Department and Plastic Surgeon Dr Mukesh Kumar operated on Rishabh’s hand. According to reports, the operation lasted for hours. Considering the severity of the case, a team of doctors, including the Plastic Surgeon, an orthopaedic surgeon and a team of anaesthetists executed the surgery.
Dr Mukesh Kumar said that within 10 days, the boy’s hand became normal once again and in the next few weeks, Rishabh’s left hand will start working properly and he will lead a normal life. Head of the hospital Dr Uma Sharma also congratulated Dr Mukesh Sharma and his team who successfully conducted the surgery which saved Rishabh’s arm.
