According to the reports, there are few cases of the BA.4 and the BA.5 sub-variants of Omicron which are highly transmissible.

New Delhi: Amid increasing number of Covid cases across the country, Delhi on Wednesday reported a whopping 2,073 cases in 24 hours. With this, the city reported five deaths from the virus. As far as positivity rate is concerned, it remained above 10 per cent for the third day in a row. At 11.64 per cent, it was the highest since January 24 when it was 11.79 per cent.
With the reports of more than 2000 cases in a single day, the national Capital’s tally of Covid cases rose to 19,60,172 while the number of deaths reached 26,321. The health authorities have conducted a total of 17,815 tests to detect Covid positive patients in the city.
As per the Delhi’s government’s data, number of Covid positive patients and positivity rate is on constant rise since a week period. On Tuesday, there were 1,506 fresh cases of Coronavirus with three deaths in the city. The positivity rate, however, stood at 10.69 per cent. The day before, the positivity rate was 11.41 per cent.
Currently, city has as many as 5,637 active cases, up from 5,006 the previous day. Out of the total positive patients, 3214 Covid patients are in home isolation and are recuprating. Of the 9,405 beds reserved for coronavirus patients in various Delhi hospitals, only 376 were occupied on Wednesday. Beds at Covid care centres and Covid health centres were lying vacant, the latest bulletin said. There are 183 containment zones in the city at present.
