New Delhi: Hours after Union Home Minister Amit Shah in an interview attacked Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his stand against the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), the latter hit back saying allowing refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan would be very dangerous for the country. He added it will snatch job opportunities for the eligible Indians.
Arvind Kejriwal, in a press conference on Thursday, said that with the advent of the CAA, there will be greater migration than what the country saw during independence. “There are 2.5 to 3 crore minorities in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. There is a lot of poverty there, they don’t have jobs. Even if half of them come to India, where will they settle?” Kejriwal asked.
“If you have to bring back someone, bring back those 11 lakh Indian businessmen and industrialists who left the country. They have money, will set up factories, provide jobs. But if Pakistanis and Bangladeshis are brought and settled here, then that will not be acceptable to the country,” Kejriwal said.

He further said, “Will you give government jobs to infiltrators who came before 2014? Will you make their ration card? There are 72 lakh people in Delhi who have ration cards but are falling short (of a few criteria). We repeatedly write to the Centre to allow them to make more for the poor, but they refuse. Why give our country’s rights to Pakistan and Bangladesh? Pakistanis and Bangladeshis did not pay tax, the people of the country paid tax.”
Arvind Kejriwal added, “I want to know from the people of the country through this video; would you accept if slums of Pakistanis are set up in front of your house? Will your daughters-in-law be safe? Will the country be safe?”
Reacting to Kejriwal’s comments, BJP President Virendra Sachdeva said his statement is “driven by a specific religious politics”.
The party meanwhile hit out at the Chief Minister and said that the person who resides in a mansion built with looted money, now wants to opine how the country should be run. “Kejriwal, having engaged in corruption for ten years, has lost his moral compass and is now making contradictory statements to please a specific group. Kejriwal only wants to indulge in religious politics because he has lost all human empathy.”
