A British woman was allegedly raped by a man she befriended on social media at a hotel in Delhi’s Mahipalpur area. Her ordeal worsened when she was reportedly molested by another man in the hotel lift while seeking help. The Delhi Police confirmed that both accused have been arrested and an investigation is underway.
Incident Details
The victim, who had developed an online friendship with the accused, traveled to India to meet him in person. Upon her arrival, she booked a hotel room in Mahipalpur, located near the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
On Tuesday, the accused visited the woman at her hotel. However, a heated argument broke out when she sensed inappropriate behavior from him. The British woman has alleged that she was subsequently raped in the hotel room. In distress, she raised an alarm and sought assistance at the hotel reception. Shockingly, another man, who posed as a helper, allegedly molested her in the hotel lift.

Police Action and Investigation
Authorities have arrested both accused on charges of rape and molestation. Delhi Police have also notified the British High Commission about the incident.
“A man was arrested on charges of rape with a British woman in a Mahipalpur hotel in Delhi. His accomplice was arrested on charges of molestation. The woman who was friends with the man through social media had come to Delhi from the UK to meet him,” Delhi Police said in a statement.
Recent Crimes Against Women Spark Concern
This alarming case comes just days after another shocking crime in Karnataka, where two women, including an Israeli tourist, were allegedly raped by three youths in the Koppal district. In that incident, a male friend of the women was pushed into the Tungabhadra River canal, where he drowned. Authorities have since arrested all three accused.
