On January 2, Blinkit CEO Albinder Dhindsa announced a groundbreaking initiative aimed at addressing the critical need for quick and reliable ambulance services in urban areas. The service, which initially launches in Gurugram, promises to deliver ambulances to patients’ doorsteps within 10 minutes.
Traditionally known for delivering groceries, daily essentials, and other products, Blinkit is now venturing into emergency healthcare services. Dhindsa shared the news on the social media platform “X,” stating, “We are taking our first step towards solving the problem of providing quick and reliable ambulance service in our cities. The first five ambulances will be on the road in Gurugram starting today. As we expand the service to more areas, you will start seeing an option to book a Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulance through the @letsblinkit app.”

Features of the Blinkit Ambulance Service
Blinkit’s ambulances are designed to offer high-quality emergency care, equipped with:
- Life-saving equipment: Oxygen cylinders, AED (Automated External Defibrillator), stretchers, monitors, suction machines, and essential emergency medicines.
- Staffing: Each ambulance is staffed by a paramedic, an assistant, and a trained driver to ensure the best possible care during transit.
- Affordable service: Blinkit has clarified that profit is not the goal, emphasizing affordability for customers while investing in long-term solutions.
Dhindsa revealed plans to scale the service carefully: “Our aim is to expand to all major cities over the next two years. This is both an important and new endeavor for us, and we are committed to making a meaningful impact.”
In his announcement, Dhindsa urged people to make way for ambulances: “Let’s do our bit and make way for an ambulance always. You never know when you may save a life.”
This innovative move by Blinkit reflects a commitment to social responsibility and marks a significant shift in how the company is leveraging its logistics expertise for community welfare. The service’s expansion to other cities is eagerly anticipated as it has the potential to revolutionize emergency healthcare accessibility.
