Veteran BJP leader Lal Krishna Advani, 97, was admitted to Apollo Hospital in Delhi after his health deteriorated late last night. This is the fourth time since July that Advani has been hospitalized due to recurring health issues. Previously, he has been treated at both Apollo Hospital and AIIMS, Delhi.
BJP spokesperson K Krishna Sagar Rao expressed his concerns and extended wishes for Advani’s speedy recovery. Calling him “our tallest leader,” Rao said in a post on X (formerly Twitter):
“I pray for a good, healthy recovery for our tallest leader, Shri LK Advani, as he is admitted into Apollo Hospital, Delhi.”
LK Advani: A Stalwart of Indian Politics
Born on November 8, 1927, in Karachi, LK Advani began his political journey with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in 1942. As one of the founding architects of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he played a pivotal role in shaping its ideology and expanding its influence across the country.

Advani served as the longest-tenured National President of the BJP and was instrumental in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led NDA government. He held key positions, including Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, from 1999 to 2004.
Recognition for His Contributions
In March 2024, Advani was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, by President Droupadi Murmu, recognizing his immense contributions to Indian politics and public service.
