The Bihar School Examination Board has announced the postponement of the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET), originally scheduled for June 26-28, citing “unavoidable circumstances.” A new date for the examination will be communicated soon, according to a notification from the board.
Passing the TET is crucial for employed teachers to gain the status of Bihar state employees. This exam is intended for candidates aspiring to teach at primary, secondary, and higher secondary schools in Bihar.
The decision to postpone the TET comes in the wake of recent paper leaks affecting other major exams such as the UGC-NET, the CSIR UGC NET and the NEET-UG.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan revealed on June 20 that the UGC-NET exam was cancelled after the question paper was found leaked on the darknet. Similarly, the UGC-NET exam, scheduled between June 25 and 27, was also postponed by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on June 21 due to “unavoidable circumstances.”

On June 18, the NTA conducted the UGC-NET June 2024 Examination in OMR (pen and paper) mode across 1,205 exam centers in 317 cities. Nearly 10 lakh candidates participated in this exam, which determines eligibility for Assistant Professor posts in universities and colleges and junior research fellowships.
In a related development, the NTA has issued admit cards for a re-examination of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) for 1,563 candidates. The re-exam is scheduled for June 23. These candidates had previously been given grace marks due to time lost during the initial exam held on May 5.
Officials from both the National Testing Agency and the Union education ministry will oversee the re-examination. This time, six new exam centers have been designated to accommodate the students.
