Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will hold a press conference around 1 pm, moments after meeting Governor Phagu Chauhan.

Patna: With the rift between Janata Dal (United) and BJP widening in Bihar, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday sought time from the Governor for a meeting, indicating something major, probably a split from its ally. However, BJP leaders said it is all but over.
Meanwhile, sources said all the 16 MLAs of BJP in Bihar will quit on Tuesday and have sought a meeting with Bihar Governor Phagu Chauhan. This comes amid information that Nitish Kumar will hold a press conference around 1 pm, moments after meeting Governor Chauhan.
Cashing in on the situation, the Opposition, mainly the Congress and the Rashtriya Janata Dal, have both said that the doors are open for Mahagathbandhan 2.0.
Tension scaled up in ruling coalition in Bihar on Sunday as Chief Minister Nitish Kumar called a meeting of all MPs and MLAs of Janata Dal (United) on Tuesday. The rift between the BJP and JDU comes days after the central government offered minimum representation of JD(U) MPs as Union ministers. The controversy related to RCP Singh has also led to a friction within the alliance as several JD(U) leaders directly attacked the BJP.
RCP Singh, a former IAS officer, who was once considered as a close aide of Nitish Kumar, was denied a Rajya Sabha ticket by JD(U) last month which led to a friction between him and Kumar. Singh had on Saturday announced his departure from the JD(U). It is being rumored that RCP Singh was inducted in Narendra Modi’s cabinet without consultation of Nitish Kumar.
The ousted JD(U) leader, in a press conference, had said that a conspiracy was hatched against him. “There is no cure of jealously. Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will not become Prime Minister in any of his seven lives. JD(U) is a sinking ship while party workers are being thoroughly ignored,” Singh had said.
