In a move to protect his reputation, renowned music composer AR Rahman has issued a legal notice targeting those who have been spreading defamatory and objectionable content about him and his family. The action comes just days after Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, announced their separation after 29 years of marriage.
The 57-year-old Oscar-winning musician took to social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday, sharing the legal notice with his followers. The notice demands that the offensive content be removed within 24 hours, warning that failure to comply could lead to legal consequences. “My client informs the hatemongers and sharers of abusive contents to remove the objectionable content within the next one hour and a maximum time duration of 24 hours,” the legal notice read.
Rahman, who had previously shared a heartfelt message about the end of his marriage, described the separation as a painful but inevitable chapter. In a post on X, he reflected on the emotional toll, writing, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts. Yet, in this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again.”

Following Rahman’s announcement, bassist Mohini Dey also revealed her separation from her husband, Mark Kutsch, fueling rumors and speculation online. Rahman’s legal team has expressed concern over the harm these rumors are causing to his family. The notice accused individuals of creating false stories to tarnish Rahman’s image and gain fleeting publicity. “This only shows the social media persons who intend to harm the reputation of my client are being content starved for their productions and are inventing highly imaginary and false stories to defame my client merely for their cheap short lived publicity,” the notice continued.
Rahman and Saira Banu, who married in 1995, share three children: daughters Khatija, Raheema, and son Ameen. The legal action highlights Rahman’s determination to protect his privacy and the well-being of his family amidst growing media scrutiny.
