The couple has requested privacy from the public during this challenging time, as they navigate through this difficult phase in their lives. Rahman also shared a poignant message on social media, reflecting on their hopes for a long-lasting marriage. “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts,” Rahman wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “In this shattering, we seek meaning, though the pieces may not find their place again.”
Rahman also expressed gratitude towards friends and supporters, thanking them for their kindness and respect for their privacy during this time of upheaval.
The couple, who share three children—Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen—have remained private about their personal lives over the years. Their son, Ameen, also appealed to the public for privacy in an Instagram Story, thanking everyone for their understanding.
Rahman, widely regarded as one of the greatest composers in the world, gained international recognition for his work on Slumdog Millionaire, for which he won an Academy Award. Known as the “Mozart of Madras,” Rahman began his musical career at the age of five and became a household name after the success of his soundtrack for the 1992 film Roja.
In a past interview with Simi Garewal, Rahman humorously shared the story of his arranged marriage to Saira. At the time, he explained how he was too busy with his music career to find a bride, and his mother helped him find a suitable match. Rahman had expressed a preference for a simple wife who would allow him to focus on his work.
As they move forward separately, Rahman and Saira have asked for continued respect and understanding from the public during this emotional period.
